Well, I bit the bullet.
Here I am in internet land. Not like this is the first place I've ever virtually written my thoughts, but still. I feel a bit sheepish. Or presumptuous, as though all the bits and pieces of ideas floating around in my little curly head are worth sharing so publicly. But I'm still here, publishing this, which means I can recognize that this will only be read by friends or the occasional creep. And I certainly deserve a significant dose of return-creeping.
For instance:
Last night, I spent the night with Michelle, Saba, Banah, and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn doesn't usually hang out with us, and whenever our conversations would inevitably return to some detail of another person's facebook life, she couldn't understand how we all knew so much. "Do you guys just sit around, stalking people on facebook?" The rest of us didn't get why Kaitlyn was so shocked; we assumed everyone spent their time on facebook, continually clicking through every profile picture of pseudo-strangers and reading wall-to-walls that show up in our news feed (a title implying that how your neighbors are going to spend the snow day or what Girl-in-Chem-I've-Never-Spoken-To is eating is actual news). It was kind of eye-opening. I really thought everyone crept on facebook. I mean, I knew that my friends and I get kind of extreme, but facebook is completely designed to be creepy, right? Right? Apparently, there are still normal kids out there, like sweet lil' Kaitlyn. I'm glad I got to hang out with her.
Today, in the midst of a melting snow storm I have managed to:
-burn pancakes
-make snow angels in a cemetery
-hiss at geese
-build a snowcat
-play Nancy Drew: Danger on Deception Island
-meet graduate students from Stanford. They're filming Banah's mom, so they came to her house, except they're from California, and they're itty bitty car got stuck in the ice. Her neighbor towed them out. We almost had to push. Anyway, they brought a heck of a lot of fancy equipment with them.
-have two snowball fights with little brothers galore
-deliver the Kouchebaughs home safe and sound.
-sled down a yard, all the way across the street, and straight through someone else's yard
-not shower
-procrastinate my fafsa, lewis & clark, and warren wilson applications. Also my recommendation letter for the Fellowship. Also all of my homework.
It's been fun. Except, I've been on the computer for an hour and I haven't accomplished anything except fail at finding a celebrity look-alike (there's helena, but the brown eyes kind of ruin it.) and start this, of course.
But we don't have school tomorrow, so it doesn't matter! Except, it does, because I have two deadlines tomorrow. And I still haven't practiced for All State today, or played my banjo, OR watched Joan of Arcadia. Which is still one of my favorite TV shows ever. Except, unlike now, I recognize all of the glossed-over high school stereotypes instead of eating them up like I did when I was in 6th grade. Man, I thought Joan was the coolest. So sassy. She's still pretty cool, though.
I should go eat more wild rice soup and actually finish my L&C supplement.
Hmm. That was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
Also, my plan is to document the highlights of my fashion choices. Today seems like a poor beginning, as I was dressing to fight the snow. But: Hollis sweater, X-large sad man in whale suit Litmag shirt, well-worn UCA sweatpants from my best fran Jordan over pink, moose-covered thermals. Along with rotating pairs of gloves, a purple hat, my lumberjack scarf, and a very, very warm red coat. AND my butch hiking boots. They're clunky and awesome. I wish I could wear them every day.
NATIONAL TREASURE IS ON USA. My favorite Nicholas Cage performance ever. Oh boy oh boy. Talk about sassy.
